The juggler is on tour with the Mechanical Engineering department of ETH Zurich in the context of the "ETH Unterwegs" program. The goal of the program is to get highschool students all over Switzerland excited about the science and engineering education programs at ETH. The students can discover a number of possible topics of study at a small fair that ETH sets up at their school. In this context, the Blind Juggler is advertising the Mechanical Engineering program. The robot is a hands-on experiment the students can easily interact with and can intuitively be understood. ETH Unterwegs program (in German).

September 26: Juggling at the "Nacht der Forschung"

Kids Playing with the Robot

The robot made it's first public appearance at the "Nacht der Forschung" in Zurich. The "Nacht der Forschung" or "Researcher's Night" provides a platform to research groups in and around Zurich to present their projects to the broader public. The event was a big success and attracted about 15'000 visitors. We explained how our robot works to many people and the feedback was very positive. Especially kids had a lot of fun playing with the robot; for example, they tried to drop the ball at the right moment to get the robot to juggle. You can find more pictures of the "Nacht der Forschung" on the event's homepage. You may also read the article about the event in the ETH magazine (in German).
